HISTORY OF THE BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

In accordance with Resolution No. 408 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 30, 2021, the Uzbekistan–Finland Pedagogical Institute of Samarkand State University was established. Within the structure of the institute, 15 departments were formed, including the Department of Natural Sciences.
The department offered three bachelor’s degree programs: Chemistry, Biology, and Geography and Fundamentals of Economic Knowledge, as well as three master’s degree programs in the methodology of teaching exact and natural sciences (chemistry, biology, and geography).
In connection with the establishment of the Uzbekistan–Finland Pedagogical Institute of Samarkand State University, the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences and Physical Culture was formed on August 6, 2021. The Department of Natural Sciences operated within this faculty. From August 10, 2021, the position of Head of the Department of Natural Sciences was held by F. A. Khamroeva.
In 2023, according to the decision of the Academic Council of the Uzbekistan–Finland Pedagogical Institute (Minutes No. 9, 2023), the Faculty of Natural Sciences was established. Within this faculty, the Department of Biology and Geography was opened.
In 2024, according to the decision of the Academic Council of the Uzbek-Finnish Pedagogical Institute (Protocol No. 2, September 7, 2024), after the division of the Biology education direction and the Geography education direction, which were part of the Department of Biology and Geography, into separate departments, the Department of Biology was opened, and the position of Head of the Department was appointed by Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences (PhD) Mamadiyarov Muzaffar Umirzokovich. Currently, Associate Professor Shuhrat Maqsadovich Jumayev serves as the Head of the Department.
The number of professors and teachers working on the main staff of the Department of Biology today is 18, of which 4 are associate professors, 4 are PhDs, and the remaining 10 are assistants. Currently, the scientific potential of the department is 38.08 percent.
To date, the department's teachers have published 6 textbooks, 4 monographs, 10 teaching aids, about 200 scientific articles, and more than 250 popular science articles.
A scientific circle called "Young Biologists" operates under the department.

Jumaev Shukhrat Maxsadovich
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Agricultural Sciences and the academic title of Associate Professor. Since 2025, He has been serving as the Head of the Biology Department at Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute. Currently, he is pursuing her Doctor of Science (DSc) research in the specialty 06.03.03 – Introduction, Cultivation Technology, and Agropharmacology of Medicinal Plants. His research focuses on the topic “Scientific Foundations of the Impact of Cultivation Technology on the Bioecological and Phytochemical Properties of Medicinal Plants in the Surkhandarya Oasis.”He is the author of more than 50 scientific articles and theses, two textbooks, one monograph, and four teaching aids.

Murodkosimov Saydolim
Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Biology, since 2024 continues his activity as an Associate Professor of the Department of Biology of the Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute. In 1990, he defended his candidate dissertation on the topic "Hygienic assessment of the impact of harmful gases from the production of ammophos on the children's body." Author of more than 80 scientific and methodological works. 10 articles in journals of the Scopus database, 4 textbooks.

Mamadiyarov Muzaffar  Umirzakovich
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological Sciences, Associate Professor (Acting). 2025-Acting Associate Professor at Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute. In 2023, defended a PhD dissertation in Biological Sciences entitled: “Bioecological characteristics of Paulownia tomentosa, Chitalpa tashkentensis, and Vinca minor plants and their use in optimizing atmospheric air quality (a case study of Samarkand city)”. The author has published more than 50 educational, methodological, and scientific works, 2 textbooks, 2 methodological manuals, 2 monographs.

Rajamuradova Nuriniso Zaynitdinovna
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological Sciences, Senior Lecturer. Since 2021, she has been working in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute. In 2023, she defended her PhD dissertation on the topic: "The Effect of Supplemental Feeding with Pasture Forages on Metabolic Processes in the Body of Lambs and Resistance Indicators of the Resulting Kids." She is the author of over 20 scientific articles and educational works. Of these, three publications are indexed in the Web of Science database, and five are indexed in Scopus. Among the educational works published: one monograph entitled "Biological Foundations of Goat Breeding Development and Increasing Its Productivity"; one teaching aid entitled "Practical Classes in the Discipline of Zoology."

Assistant at the Department of Biology. He began his academic career at the Department of Biology in 2025. He is currently conducting research on the topic “The Nematode Fauna of Plants Occurring in Agrocenoses and Biocenoses of the Zarafshan Valley and Its Biocenotic Characteristics.”
