“5 YEARS — 5 VALUES — TOWARDS NEW MILESTONES!”

The five-year journey of Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute has been marked by continuous learning, innovation and consistent development. In a relatively short period, the Institute has achieved significant results in teacher training, improving the quality of education, strengthening research capacity, expanding international cooperation and creating modern opportunities for students.

The Institute’s development began in 2021 with cooperation between Samarkand State University and the University of Turku in Finland. Building on this partnership, the Uzbekistan–Finland Pedagogical Institute was established and commenced operations in the 2021/2022 academic year. Under Resolution No. PQ-289 dated 21 June 2022, the Institute became an independent higher education institution. Subsequently, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. PF-73 dated 28 April 2025, it was renamed Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute.

FIVE YEARS OF TRANSFORMATION

Today, the Institute has 10,182 students. In the 2026/2027 academic year, 2,449 students were admitted to the first year. Of the 3,157 graduates in the 2025/2026 academic year, 3,085 secured employment.

The Institute employs 452 academic staff members. Its research capacity increased from 19.7% in 2021 to 37.6%. A total of 132 academic programmes have been aligned with programmes offered by universities ranked among the world’s TOP 300.

Students’ achievements in science, sports, the arts and intellectual competitions are also important indicators of the educational and creative environment fostered at the Institute.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION — NEW OPPORTUNITIES

The Institute’s international cooperation network has expanded significantly, growing from eight agreements and memoranda in 2022 to 64 by 2026. Practical efforts are underway to establish “1+1” master’s and “3+1” bachelor’s degree programmes in collaboration with higher education institutions in South Korea, Belarus and other countries.

INFRASTRUCTURE — CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT

Over the past five years, the number of student residence halls has increased from three to five, while accommodation capacity has grown from 1,250 to 2,050 places. The number of academic buildings has risen from seven to nine, and their total capacity has increased from 3,080 to 3,780 places.

“5 YEARS — 5 VALUES — TOWARDS NEW MILESTONES!”

To mark the Institute’s fifth anniversary, a series of large-scale celebrations and an educational and cultural festival were organised under this slogan.

The festival featured faculty exhibitions, creative performances, displays of national values and student talent, “Zakovat” intellectual competitions and sports events. The activities also showcased the “SamLingo Education” and Art Studio spin-off projects, including the “Vijdon” mobile shop.

As part of the celebrations, the Media Studio established under the Institute’s Information Service was officially inaugurated. Representatives of the media were introduced to the studio’s modern technical facilities and the resources available for producing video content, educational videos and other media products.

A formal anniversary event was also held with the participation of the Institute’s staff, providing an opportunity to review the work accomplished and the results achieved over the past five years. During the event, the Institute’s Rector, Professor Shahzoda Negmatova, congratulated the staff on the anniversary and emphasised that improving the quality of education, strengthening research capacity and expanding opportunities for students remain key priorities for the future.

Representatives of the regional administration, the Youth Affairs Agency, the media and the wider community attended the event and extended their congratulations to the Institute’s staff on the fifth anniversary.

In recognition of their valuable contributions to the Institute’s development, academic staff, employees, students, partner organisations and guests were awarded the commemorative medal marking the fifth anniversary of Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute.

The celebration concluded with a gala concert featuring well-known performers and talented students of the Institute.

The fifth anniversary of Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute marks not only an opportunity to reflect on past achievements but also an important milestone in defining new goals and priorities. The events held under the slogan “5 YEARS — 5 VALUES — TOWARDS NEW MILESTONES!” highlighted the Institute’s current potential, achievements and future development priorities.
