Developing Sports and Opportunities for Youth: Strategic Plans Discussed at the Institute

On February 13, 2025, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a video conference was held to discuss measures for further development of the Olympic and Paralympic movement, advancement of mass sports, and increasing physical activity among the population.

In this regard, the Rector of the Uzbekistan-Finland Pedagogical Institute, Shahzoda Negmatova, held a meeting with members of the institute's leadership, department heads, faculty deans, department chairs, and professors. The issues raised during the video conference were thoroughly discussed at this meeting.

At the beginning of the session, the rector heard a report on the current sports clubs operating within the institute and their ongoing activities.

It was also noted that a digitalization system has been introduced at the institute, and the importance of developing new projects in the field of sports within this framework was emphasized.

In addition, it was decided to develop action plans to organize regular sports competitions among teachers and students of schools affiliated with the institute, youth from local communities (mahallas), and the institute's teaching staff.

During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev's dialogue with the country’s youth on February 14 was also discussed. It was emphasized that the dialogue addressed creating broad opportunities for youth, increasing the effectiveness of youth engagement, and listening to the proposals of active young individuals.

Special attention was given to the introduction of a new system aimed at ensuring employment of university graduates and the launch of banking services to help transform their ideas and initiatives into viable projects — evidence of the country’s growing support for youth opportunities. Information was also provided on the formation of commissions consisting of local authorities (hokims), bank officials, and enterprise leaders to assist in graduate employment.

It was noted that the institute is actively working in this direction — including student participation in startup projects, increasing the number of professors and students with foreign language certificates, making new discoveries in fields such as robotics, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology, and prioritizing practical production activities.

Additionally, all faculties and departments were given specific instructions to attract foreign investments to the institute and to actively involve students in the "Work and Travel" program.
